Which pallet size to choose for your goods
Euro pallet 120 × 80, 120 × 100 or a 60 × 80 half pallet. We go through the most common sizes, what each one is for and how to get the strength right.

Choosing the right pallet size is not a minor detail. It determines how much product fits in a lorry, whether it fits the racking in your warehouse or your customer's, and whether the load arrives intact. These are the sizes we work with most and what each one is for.
Euro pallet, 120 × 80 cm
It is the most widespread pallet in Europe and the one most retail chains and logistics hubs ask for. It is designed to make the most of the width of lorries and standard racking.
We have it in Grade 1 and Grade 2, and also heat-treated for export. If you don't need a certified Euro pallet, the 120 × 80 heavy-duty and the 120 × 80 light keep the same size at a lower cost.
120 × 100 cm pallet
It offers more surface than the Euro pallet, which is why it is very common for drinks, building materials, the chemical industry and fruit and vegetables, where the whole base is used. There are versions for every type of load:
- 120 × 100 heavy-duty and 120 × 100 light, depending on the weight it has to bear.
- Perimeter base, with boards all around the bottom, more stable on racking and automated conveyors.
- With skids, to move the load more easily in one direction.
Half pallet, 60 × 80 cm
The 60 × 80 is ideal for point-of-sale displays, small loads or orders that do not fill a whole pallet. It takes up half the space of a Euro pallet, so two half pallets fit in its footprint.
Heavy-duty or light? How to get the strength right
There is no need to pay for a sturdier pallet than you need, but falling short is costly. To choose, think about three things:
- The weight of the load and whether it is spread over the whole surface or concentrated.
- Whether the pallet will go on racking, be stacked or sit directly on the floor.
- How many trips it will make: a one-way pallet does not need the same strength as one that will circulate for months.
If in doubt, tell us what you load and how you store it. We will recommend the right size and strength and, if none fits, we will build custom-made new pallets for you. You can see every format in our used pallet catalogue or ask us for a price directly.
